When I previously suggested a new meta for corsairs using monster sacks, Matt's reply was I think I may have found that graceful solution. First of all, I generally dislike asking for direct buffs. I'd rather request for nerfs to make this game more challenging, like berserk nerf to 40%. If there is a need for buff request, I'd look for ways that won't simply increase the % dmg of skills but an indirect influence that can enhance the QOL of certain classes. I have played the Corsair class for a long time, even after reaching lvl 200. This class is truly wonderful with all the challenges and consequent rewards. However, I felt that this class' potential hasn't been fully explored, not because of the lack of skills but because of unnecessary delays. Almost every bossing Corsair would have experienced troubles with the wrongly timed remount which exposed their fragile ship to the deadly magic attacks. This gets worse if one has a bad connection or a slow device. One can dodge any direct damage to the battleship by dismounting just before making contact (Must-use to outDPS NL like the DPS chart says). This feature functions well with/without delay since pressing the battleship hotkey (for dismount) registers the character in the dismounted form, even if the dismounting animation is slow and ongoing while getting hit by the attack. The real issue arises when the corsair needs to remount quickly to re-engage on the battleship. Especially when a char was just struck by an attack, with an additional lag/delay caused by numerous projectiles in the map, the animation delay of remount is unnecessarily long, causing mild irritation and reduction of DPS - because the cannon won't shoot until the ship is fully formed. Spoiler: Mounting delay example In this example, my Corsair wasn't getting hit by any magic attacks so the remounting was smoother but the ship loaded way after I started pressing the cannon hotkey. If it was a real situation, the delay would have been longer. I noticed that the dismounting and remounting speed of riding (hog/silvermane/draco) is visibly faster than that of the battleship. With the help of @Inusama , we also noticed that the latency plays a big role in the mounting/dismounting speed. Here is the comparison with good vs bad ping. One can see that in both conditions, battleship still takes longer to load. (Thanks to Matt who provided a ping address) Bad Ping (Average 179ms) Good Ping (Average 17ms) I would like to request to reduce the delay of battleship mount/dismount to match that of monster riding. Dismounting and remounting battleship requires uninterrupted attention and concentration. It doesn't affect the actual % dmg of the corsair skills. This change will barely affect the lazy corsairs who don't bother dismounting during battle. Even if this change is implemented, corsairs will have to work hard to notice and secure the new benefits. Give us more opportunity to work harder. Just a side addition... In the past, some of the corsair mains have discussed the use of octopus summon along with remount/dismount, that may prevent the loss of wasted time used for summoning. I personally tested this in every possible scenario but using this combo right after engagement (getting hit, shooting) resulted in a long delay of a disarmed state. We concluded that it wasn't worth the wasted time. I cannot speak with certainty but if the mount/dismount delay is reduced, this option might become viable as well.
It seems like the game locks you to finish the animation of the white flash fading out. If it would be possible to remove this animation it might be as fast as a normal mount. I don't know if such an edit is doable tho, but if it is, and the delay code is related to the animation, then it might fix it. It might also be just hardcoded tho, then you are out of luck until they make a costume client P.S i noticed that the UFO mount is even faster than normal mounting, might be interesting to add it to the speed comparison if you have one

BUMPING THIS THREAD Please, i really want to make a sair as next attacker but having shitty 320ms australian ping really makes it hard. Please let ship mounting CLIENT side so everuone has 0 delay when executing sair mechanics
is battleship still affected by ping? how are the changes? I don't have a corsair to test it out myself, and no one else is talking about the change.
