1. Genesis spam that I couldnt in old JMS 2. Friends and Guildies and Bears 3. 200 level every class 4. no. Bring back goby farm 5. change level cap 200 ->250 ? and release harder mode boss or PB (also autoban system)
My expectation in game... I know this is impossible but... I wish all friends and nice people who got banned will be unbanned. And to those who quit able to come back.. I miss them so much... Those old times... I just want to play this game with friends...
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? What made you continue playing? Do you have any goals that keep you going? Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? What would you like to see in future updates? 1.-its funny, but i just wanted to do the most iconic pq and the only who still makes feel nostalgic AS HELL, LPQ(its so sad taht its really hard to get ppl to do it ) the numer "133221333123111" was in my memory for about 14 years, im happy that, when i came, ppl still do it, otherwise i may not be here now. 2.-Back in gms i was an unaware teenager, i never noticed why ppl didnt want me in pqs (i mained an i/l, now i know why) but i used to feel really happy when finally i got someone included me in dojo or lmpq. so i just wanted to test that character i always tought it was the cooler of warriors Drk. i wanted to do lmpq, then i wanted to max zerk, pretty much i always haved a goal that maked me keep playing... 3.-Yeah, want my perfect gears, im beating nessi for shure...,want my monster book medal, i want to be funded enough to just explore the world and do this for entire fun, and want to have alternative characters (not mules per se) 4.-well, something i have to mention is that playing this game as an adult i can see why i became adicted to it, its bcs i found obvious that is a game made out with LOVE , i just love the background, the music and the CONCEPTS, and i say concepts because now i find out that the concepts were not applied correctly, they did not materialize in the gameplay, as game, i find royals better than glory days gms because of the new balancing, despite theres still a long road to make it as it should be a game with "a big variety of characters that give an unique from of viewing this big maple world" 5.-everyone is saying autoban, i think it would be good, despite i do not understand how "lots of hackers", or "omg so many hackers"(around 10 ppl in a 1000 ppl comunity) can "ruin my game experience". - search button on forums would be great.(please karven, i know this game is from 2006-2012, but forum shouldnt feel like vsiting a 2007 website)i know ure working on it. Thank u in advance -adjustments for the jobs. i do not want to every job becomes an atacker,or "pretty much the same just with different looking skills"(like gms now) i just want taht some job have something good to offer that actually compite with the others wich gives even more variety of jobs in the game -neo city. -and, i know this isnt going to be popular but i really, really REALLY feel nostalgia about maker skill and family system( i totally agree that it should be added carefully, bcs it can easily be or to OP with extra exp or drop, or just useless if the nerf is too strong....)
1. What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? A server with professional staff, and a reasonably bug-free experience. The server I'd been on previously was kinda weird, the admin would randomly throw fits and ban some of us (and then unban us later with lengthy apologies, etc) and had something against people from Singapore, which was a lot of the server population, and a lot of the people I hung out with. Pointing out bugs would get an unprofessional wall of text expecting us to feel sorry for him. It was really weird. The main thing going into this server was I didn't want to see any of that kind of unprofessional and immature crap, and thankfully I haven't been disappointed 2. What made you continue playing? I have come and gone a lot over the years, the main thing is that I just like old school maplestory. The addition of new content helps too. 3. Do you have any goals that keep you going? Be a super high damage Sair, able to solo many bosses. And more recently, fill up my monster book! 4. Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? Yes! I love that there is more content than there was previously. For the most part, I've been happy with changes. My main gripe is pet loot not working when monsters are killed by summons. 5. What would you like to see in future updates? More ways of getting HP on characters that were previously under-washed, even if it's super expensive. My character will sadly fall about 1000 HP short of what's needed for Pinkbean and at level 164, remaking doesn't feel like an option. I would also like to see the auto ban re-enabled, a lot of the current wave of hackers could easily be detected with an autoban system. I also kind of want to see some more classes enabled, but then I also see that this could unbalance the game. And I wouldn't mind seeing leeching nerfed, but I know few people will support that, so it's unlikely to happen.
1. I had no expectations. I started playing on a whim when I remembered that maplestory private servers were a thing. I don't remember why I chose royals but it must have looked the most appealing when I was looking at servers on gtop. 2. My friends/guild. 3. No goals actually worth mentioning. I like to set goals so unattainable that I don't feel pressured to rush to complete them, but having them gives me a reason to keep going because I always have something to work toward. 4. I love the stability. Anyone who bossed during 2016 will understand, though that's not when I first joined. As for the community everything seems way less friendly and accepting now. 5. ~gm, training map rebalancing
1. I just wanted to try this version again. As a kid I didn't know English and therefore kept leveling to 30 ish and restart chars, I wanted to explore beyond that and see what do the 3rd/4th jobs have to offer. 2. At the beginning it was the fun of exploring and leveling, but that died quickly after finding out about hp washing and basically having to delete my character that I really liked, and also accidentally left my 2b meso which I worked hard for without a mage to earn. (Had to delete because I was misinformed and went below min mp or fucked up something there). At some point I got into the market but nowadays seems like people only buy extremely well scrolled items which kind of sucks. 3. Ironman/Solo, finally a reason to play the game I love and enjoy so much as a solo player and explore the entire game, that sometimes feels actually hard without the simple pqs that provide so much exp for such a little effort, rather than buying leech up to 135. 4. The staff that is here is dedicated and caring, even if some shit happened along the way. I really appreciate the people spending their time helping shape the server. 5. More quest design events, I think having more server unique quests is interesting and as far as the last one went, people are very creative and have great ideas. Also fixing the zakum bgm bug despite being the minority that plays with bgm on.
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? Stable and lagless server tbh i didnt have any expectations except bosses or hlvl mobs cuz before royals i had only 30lvl sin on gms What made you continue playing? Back in 2014 killing bosses ive only heard of was satisfying+ my first guild ever was so nice that it just had to be fun to play... when i came back from "quits" i just enjoy getting more chars and lvls Do you have any goals that keep you going? All classes (except beginner) at 120 at least, duo grind with @mecheez f3 Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? We used to do ht like twice a week with 3parties for me, a guy who never been to zak before royals, it was amazing. Afaik i was 2nd active NL back then despite having 4.4k range. Now everyone goes for their 5ppl runs with min range 6k for nl and hp wash is a must. If it comes to mage gameplay, skele maps were hard to get and 2hit leech was something normal. Almost every new player believes that 30k hp attacker is a must to be able to play and that brings him to leech until 120-135, few more lvls and he realizes that he skipped best (90%) content of this game. There are good things like better stability of the server, more active ppl so u can find party faster but 5 years of evolving community made it worse for me What would you like to see in future updates? More end game content, more ppl with possibility to ban other players, working library, maybe new world and solo cwkpq by @Nessi
Answering this from my phone at midnight so things may appear somewhat disjointed. Thanks for posting John - it’s interesting to get a gauge of what the rest of the community think of the server. Apologies for not paragraphing properly, it appears I’m having trouble getting rid of numbering from my phone. What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? What made you continue playing? Do you have any goals that keep you going? Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? What would you like to see in future updates? I had very little expectations, really. I was in my final year of university and with no exam pressure was basically getting a bit bored during semester break. I feel that the friends I’ve made in my little-over-12-months of gameplay is what keeps me playing this game. I feel extremely fortunate when I think of all the people I’ve met on this server, in game and in real life, and the time that we’ve spent together. Those of you who have so kindly shown me around the cities you live in (You know who you are) - thank you for making my travelling adventures so much more enjoyable. Despite a more-than-full-time-job I think I’ve maintained a good sense of balance this year between work / life / games which I have to be honest is predominantly MapleRoyals. I know many people choose to separate the game from their life and I fully respect this; though I do find that being able to incorporate this game into my life and being comfortable sharing aspects with my friends on Maple are a significant component of what keeps me playing. Not really. I have a vague idea of what I want to do with my characters, but none of these are set in stone and I’m quite content with working towards these slowly. It can get a bit frustrating when I get conscientious that my gear isn’t really strong enough to play certain content with some of my friends who I’m a little dependent on carrying me but no one has expressly judged me as yet I have to say which is reassuring :’) To be honest - not really. Since joining in May 2018 I’ve really seen nothing but nerfs - a number of them at that. Despite all the new content that is being introduced I’m finding that it’s harder and harder to ‘catch up’, so to speak, to veteran players even if they have been inactive for months, maybe years even. Whilst for the most part this doesn’t concern me, I think it’s not a healthy thing for the server especially as the veteran community already seem to hold a sense of superiority and judgment stemming from their status and gears and what-have-you upon newer players. I am hoping whatever update in the future, that these are well thought out, not rushed and focus on content that the community can enjoy. I did also want to echo what some of the others have mentioned in this thread about the need for more active staff. I am acutely aware that many staff work in the background incredibly hard but I do ask that staff members can be more transparent in the handling of this server - it is hard to convince people that staff are being vigilant and active when there are theoretically 16 staff members listed and appeals, character issues etc are not being addressed for days, sometimes weeks or even months. If staff are becoming inactive for a period of time I think the community would appreciate a formal announcement and if the staff team are in need of more volunteers to help I am quite certain many active community individuals would be more than willing to apply.
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? Not much, I just wanted to have fun playing Maplestory again like I did when I was younger. I went to MapleLegends first, got banned for RWT (I didn't actually RWT but I just said in-game s> account for usd$XX to purposely get permanently banned) so that I could focus on real life. Then I got bored again (;p) and a few months later I decided to come to Royals. From the time I got into Legends and now at Royals, this whole time was a very transitional time period for me - I took 2 years off a 4 year undergraduate degree program because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and was 100% scared of the future. So I hid in my room for a few months, swam, went to the gym, isolated my friends and of course played royals. What made you continue playing? I didn't get seriously into Royals in the beginning. I just trolled people for a bit, pretended to speak crap english but thank god no one put me on the blacklist. When I eventually got into playing Royal, I played like a semi-ironman because I liked it. I just liked doing quests all by my own and I did all the PQs for fun. Wasn't a real fan of bossing. Wasn't a real fan of levelling super fast. I played somewhat like what @Shane does. Do you have any goals that keep you going? Nope. I think I'm quitting for good. Like 90% certain. I really wanted to have a fully washed pally, bucc and shadower with godly gear. These three are my favourite classes. But you know getting godly gear takes time and I don't have the time and patience to leech and farm especially now I graduated from university this year... Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? When I joined, PQs were full of people. Even at OPQ, you could find enough people to form a party at times. Sometimes you needed smegas but people came quickly. Idk if it's still what I experienced early this year but PQs are fucking dead. We need more people at PQs. PQs are fun, social and beginner-friendly. They are easy exp. Like most people here, I think this server is not very noob friendly too. I think some leniency towards new players who make minor mistakes e.g. account sharing low level accounts for Zakum jump quests would do the server good. Always good to have no tolerance against hackers, botters and RWTers but it would be nice to show some kindness to people who make minor mistakes. Just look at the reddit thread - what do you think people think about Royals now? What would you like to see in future updates? Can we have some fun PQ for 3rd job. Like Magnatia PQ or smth. You realise all you can do in 3rd job is leech, kill HH or do the boring PPQ?
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? I was looking for an old-school, pre-BB MapleStory server so I could relive my elementary/middle school years. And honestly, I just thought I'd be playing alone and grinding as I did all those years ago. What made you continue playing? In contract to my expectations, meeting the most wonderful people in-game. All those random people I met along the way. Joining Gossamer's NewPlayer, Anna's Munchkin, and then Cam's Divinity. And most of all? One certain person, the most non-random person ever. Do you have any goals that keep you going? Just hanging out with friends in-game. No real goals. Maybe 200? But life hit me hard and now I'm too busy. I just log on for the socializing. Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? I hate it. It's not the server's fault. Of course not. It's probably far better than it ever was with the Old Source. But that doesn't mean I can look at the past without rose-colored glasses. I miss the old days so much. When my buddy list was like averaging at least 20-30 people at any time. And when all these guilds of the past were flourishing, and... I guess when everyone I knew was still on. Now everyone's gone and my buddy list has been 0/90 for the past few months. Maybe 1/90 on occasion. Time didn't wait, and everyone's moved on along with it. I guess I just haven't. (Of course I'm doing IRL stuff but like... in-game, I'm still stuck in the past. I can't seem to quite move on to new things.) What would you like to see in future updates? N/A
1. My expectation going into MapleRoyals was definitely nostalgia. I missed the old school socialization aspect that new Maplestory lacked. I missed the fact that people could PQ together and bond through those means. 2. What made me continue to play was definitely the friends I made. They're the fun part of old MapleStory and MapleRoyals. I like how I had made a network of friends from across the world and to be able to share my worries and struggles with them is definitely what made me stay. For a little while, it was also the gambling addiction of the FM. Scrolling gear to sell, but that fell off fairly quickly. Also, real life sucked at that point in time, and Royals was a really good distraction for me 3. In Royals, currently, no. I rarely log on anymore because I've found things I want to achieve irl. And when I do log on, it's to talk to my friends :') 4. I don't have much to say because I usually kept to my own bubble and not the overall server. I can say that all the untradeable stuff really irked me. I understand it's to prevent people farming on their mules, and to prevent people from mass scrolling things (ie anniversary earrings), but it is a "co-op" game (for a lack of better words), at least how I see it, where people help each other out, or a means for new player to make an income. Also, people spamming CPQ/CPQ2 instead of the other PQ's as well. 5. Make PQ's a thing again.
1. I expected the server to feel very similar to the gameplay in MapleSEA when I was around 12 years old. I was a leech maniac in MapleSEA and knew that if I did the same in Royals, it's ez get rich 2. Addicted to making mesos. 3. I lowkey quit cuz uni got me good ajd I've got other interests that is way above royals on the priority list. I used to dream having a 9k NL. And since I've achieved it, the drive to play slowly dwindled. 4. Imo, the server was never shaping to be anything. It just didn't change, which is a good thing for me. BUT powercreeping is slowly ruining the game... making it easier than it was when I first started...that sucks. 5. Make HT more difficult. Absolutely no chair gacha. Autoban.
1) What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? A server that supports old school style MapleStory, came for the spammable Genesis and also Maple Island - cause I like being an islander 2) What made you continue playing? Tried other servers at the time and just decided to settle on this - would be either here or Legends based on the content 3) Do you have any goals that keep you going? Don't really have goals, just online once in a while for events - usually just slack in Discord 4) Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? Yea, I like how the server has made significant updates such as skills buff or new areas (Shanghai, Malaysia etc) - for me personally would be the Monster Carnival as I'm a huge fan of it 5) What would you like to see in future updates? I think my greatest concern at the moment would be getting the autoban to work as there are many hackers ruining the game just for their own interests, so that would be a great boost to reducing the hacker situation ※There will surely still be hackers after the autoban added, but I believe it will help to deter most of the hackings
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? I was bored on my break in uni, so i started revisiting old games i played in the past. When i ran into an ost playlist of maplestory i got extremely nostagic so i looked for a private server to relive these days, even just for a bit What made you continue playing? After i joined, i played mostly solo, doing pqs was the closest i got to inteacting with other players. I reached around lvl 9x on a mage when i felt like im about to quit the game, but then i bumped into a friendly mage on ulu, chatted for almost an hour, and got invited into her guild, Pizza, which was later remade into Fleur. (thankyou @Hanajo <3) After a very long time of playing with fleur, the guild started dying, i was nearly quitting, only to be invited to rendezvous (later remade into Valhalla) after a few runs of blackcats HT. After both of my guilds died, before quitting i gave the ironman challenge a try. TL; DR every time i was nearing quitting, it was the community of this server that pulled me back in. Do you have any goals that keep you going? Currently, the goals i set for myself while doing the ironman challenge keep me going Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? I feel that this server changed for the better since i've joined. Events got better, content was added, more options were added for hp, classes that were crap got their well deserved buffs. The only things that i felt were getting worse, is the increase in hacking since i joined, and the decrease in activity of gms. What would you like to see in future updates? More hp solutions, with a little more i think we'll cross the critical mass where even if new players won't know about washing, they will still be able to correct it. I think a questline like the alternative to jq zak would be nice for the last hp boost, as it shoupd require a challenge to get more hp from this point on (no buying items in fm to get hp). Maybe more incentives for grinding and party grindings. And my pet peeve, a god damn pot seller in ToT
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? To relive Monster Carnival Party Quest. To fight zakum. To get the genesis skill. I never got past lvl 50 in MapleSea. What made you continue playing? Selling bishop leech is actually fun. Night Lord is fun. Do you have any goals that keep you going? Not really. End game content in MapleRoyals is pretty boring and repititive after a while. Spamming attack button at a stationary boss is quite stupid is you actually think about it. Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? No. When I first joined the server, players in the server actually did party quests like KPQ, LPQ, LMPQ, OBQ etc to level up. Those were the most fun times. Today, most people leech all the way to lvl 135. Some even afk and leech in party quests (CPQ1, CPQ2). What would you like to see in future updates? Maybe a high lvl Monster Carnical PQ for lvl 135+ players. An alternative to spamming attack on stationary bosses daily.
1.What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? Wanted to have some fun and remember the good old days when i played Brazil Maple Story with my cousins, my plan was to play the game for few days and quit. 2.What made you continue playing? Well i quit this game, but during my time when i was playing probably the friends i met along the way 3.Do you have any goals that keep you going? I wanted to reach level 200 which i eventually got on my nl and bish and maybe get better gears lul 4.Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? I think the game is kinda worse? from what i heard theres more hackers around and lot of rwts, and apparently theres like no active gms anymore, so my answer is no 5.What would you like to see in future updates? Idrc about the game but if i was still playing probably different events, because every year is the same f****** event but always making them worse for the players lmao, and maybe auto ban
What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? Old school MapleStory What made you continue playing? My old guild Do you have any goals that keep you going? No Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? This is shit compared to what it was back in 2013/2014 What would you like to see in future updates? Nothing because I don't play
1. What were your expectations going into playing MapleRoyals? Just like other people, I want to relive the good old days of pre-bb MapleStory, also try to explore and achieve things I did not get before (for example, have a Night Lord and spam Genesis on Bishop). I came to MapleRoyals quite randomly. Two years ago, I was sitting next to the door in a class. The lecturer told me to lock the door, so anyone came late had to knock it and I opened the door. My friend sat next to me told me "You are a gatekeeper". The word "Gatekeeper" gave a flashback of the lv108 mob back then in MapleStory, which I could not defeat it due to my low hp lol. So in the evening, I watched lots of the videos about old school MapleStory to feel the nostalgia, and I found MapleRoyals. 2. What made you continue playing? My guild, my buddies - they are very active and supportive. Also, there are a lot of contents I have not explored yet. I have been playing for nearly 2 years, but I have never faced Anego, Body Guard A/B, The Boss, etc. I just had a chance to join a Toad run and a Horntail run 1 month ago, Shaolin boss run and Guild PQ 2 months ago. Also, I have some goals to work for in MapleRoyals (refer to question 3). 3. Do you have any goals that keep you going? To reach lv200 on my NL; To perfect my NL gear to have 6k range; To collect monster cards and obtain 1wa+ medal. 4. Do you like how the server is shaping itself compared to when you first joined? Yes, more contents were added and I was very excited to explore them. But I want the PQs to be active again, like they are used to be. When I first joined, I enjoyed doing LPQ, LMPQ, OPQ, there were many people enjoyed too. Of course, we have CPQ which is better now, but sometimes CPQ is empty too 5. What would you like to see in future updates? (Sort from high to low) Boss rewarp after DC. Autoban for hackers. More ways to gain HP for unwashed players. More maps to earn meso for people who don't sell leech, like me. Ulu1 is full all the time now. More contents like Neo City and Ellin Forest. Bring back fast travel. May be item leveling? Droppable WS/CS.
1. To play a server that was similar to GMS before big bang. 2. The friendly and helpful community and the large amount of players, back in late 2016 (before new source) 3. No goals really just love playing this nostalgic game from time to time. 4. Yes and No 5. More PQs and Bosses! R&J, Forest of Poison Haze, Netts Pyramid and perhaps Golden Temple, Ravana and a nerfed Pink Bean?
