The journey to a perfect pilgrim hat (aka buying indefinite zombie's lost teeth)

here's a small tl;dr: im buying 6840 stacks of zombie's lost teeth. each set will be bought for 1.5m
no, you did not read wrong. i am buying 6840 STACKS of zombie's lost teeth (which comes out to just under 1.4m teeth)

Hello fellow maplers, in this thread, i shall introduce myself and invite you to become a part of my journey to a great attacker

First of all, i started at the server around june i believe, or so, and love the server. i started out as a bishop, and couldnt be more grateful, as it introduced me to the meta game of playing on the server. however, playing a bs alone is not too fun, so i decided to make me an attacker. my friend who quit his sair in favor of a DK donated me a decent gun and a decent overall, and suggested i make a corsair.

so, i made a fire/poison and got it to 160, fully intending on selling leech to fund the wash of a sair, as by then i was already semi-knowledgeable about the meta. note, i did not hp wash the sair yet, as until you NEED the hp, i feel it is pointless. however, i found that im looking for something else in an attacker, possibly something more afk-able, so i decided to play a big gamble.

i ran some numbers and found that aside from a great (and i do mean GREAT) zHelm and an auf haven circlet, a pilgrim hat is better almost throughout the game. and even when comparing to a perfect zHelm, the pilgrim hat comes REALLY close.

so that is how i decided - i want an attacker with a perfect pilgrim hat. however, you can only get 1 per character per year, so here comes my plan.
i have created 10 accounts, 5 dedicated to archers and 5 dedicated to thieves. each account can hold up to 6 characters, allowing me to create up to 60 total characters across all accounts. for each character, i will get it to level 30 (either through training, through kpq or thorugh orbis exchange) and then stop playing on it. my goal is to have all 60 chars level 30, then at thanksgiving i will get them all pilgrim hats, and a cs for each one of them

the chances of getting a 6 att pilgrim hat is as following: 1*0.6(cs success)*(1/11), which comes around to 1:18.333333 or roughly 5.4%. making 30 of each char type will statistically guarantee a perfect pilgrim hat on each one of them. at that point, i will delete the worst 29 of each class and have an attacker with a perfect pilgrim hat. note, i plan on washing the NL and BM to 30K hp and maybe 18.5k mp.

maple island quests get you currently to level 11 (tested on many chars today), so for each char i will need teeth to get it from 11 to 30, which is around 114 STACKS. multiply it by 60 for 60 chars, and you get a nice number of 6840 stacks.

also, of course, i know this is early, but i will be buying pilgrim hat sets for 50m each, i will need 60, so if you volunteer on selling me, feel free to comment

note that my characters are not fully ready yet (WIP as to the making of this thread, will edit later) and i do not yet have the funds to buy ALL these teeth but i will work on it through selling petri leech

Appreciate the dedication and if this is what gives u a goal and is making the game fun for you, go for it!

If you want to be a good NL, you will most likely use a DPS that requires 150 Dex, therefore you will need a high stat zhelm (or one of the scarlion helms).
Reaching that number with a Pilgrim Hat will be a pain in the ass even with a rly high stat HTP , and if that's how u gonna solve the lack of stats from your helm (and you will still need insane equips / other reloots), why not just go with the normal route of getting a good zhelm and just relooting a MoN until u get a rly good one instead of wearing an HTP? (8 att and like 9/9+ stats MoN)

That type of strategy i would expect from a person with insane gear that is ready for a new char and trying to become rank 1 in the range thread or something.
(The whole process will cost u around 10b in teeth stacks, and 30b in chaos scrolls to cs 60 helms, you better be one hell of a top tier player if you do that type of thing imo)

And to make a good ... archer.. attacker...? Idk dude just press SE in time and don't dc and you are a great archer in my book.

Again, not trying to discourage you, do whatever makes you feel good, it is just my opinion.
From conversations i had with you in-game, you seemed to be rly motivated and hard working, but you also gotta work smart.

 

Do not have the numbers but i doubt if is it really better off using pilgrim hat for BM than zak/scarlion helm? Seems to me u need 6 atk 15 dex pilgrim hat (one more variable, so even lower odds) to even match/exceed a 40+ dex counterpart, not to mention the higher str stat that helps you equip end-game bow.

 

If you want to be 95% sure that you get a 6 att hat, you need 57 accounts. For 90% you need 28 accounts.

 

I think that the only class that could truly benefit from this would be nightlord.

Nightlords do not gain any single target dps from additional dex, so once you hit 150 dex to wear your end game claw, any extra additional point is effectively useless. At least for the other classes, having secondary stat DOES increase your DPS somewhat.

Assuming you are able to get dex from other gears, a perfect pilgrims hat is basically a cheap alternative to chaos scrolling a helmet for LUK.

 

What about the 20 slot auf helms? Seems like a perfect 20 slot helm would be better

bro, i think you're making a mistake doing this.
First, washing a ranged char to 30k is totaly useless, if you wanna do this, get 18.750 to got 30k with hb, and dont wash to get extra mp, its really totally useless.
Pilgrim hat is not the best hat in the game, is auf circlet, and for NLs (and bowmans too) i think a perfect scar with 10% would be better, you got 54 dex and 22 luk and it is guaranteed since you use WS, if you want do the best attacker possible dont waste your money! first get perfect weapons and nice equips, you got nice plans in the theory, but this dont pay off your hard work at the end. gl doing this attacker [/QUOTE]

 

Haha that sounds like a really fun and awesome goal! If you are still in need for etcs, i have a lot stockpiled that i never use. I could donate some for the cause!

 

I do think that pilgrim hat can be as powerful as any other helm that isn't super end game. Auf haven circlet is one of those rare stuff that only gets op with expensive scrolls, so a pilgrim hat is a good choice.

Y'all realize you're commenting on a thread that OP started about a year ago, and hasn't posted anything since then? No idea if they're active in-game, but it looks like they're definitely not on the forum lately
