Hey guys, despite playing this game for years, i still don't quite grasp the way SE works, and how it affects your damage, so when i tried figuring out the following comparison i got a bit stumped: I'm an ironman, so i don't care about the party use of SE, i just want to know, damage wise, which of these two skills should i max first for mobbing: SE, or MM boost.
Se gives you an additional 15% chance per skill use to crit. When you crit, all lines in that skill use gain 140% damage. For example, brandish has a 15% chance to do 400% per line (260+140).
Both additive. Se damage scales from +110% to +140% so I'm guessing the increase across skill levels does not really boost damage significantly? I'm not sure what skills you use for mobbing, but if it's eruption then, with some estimations... Eruption damage would scale from (160+200+110)×0.4+160x0.6= 500 ~ (160+200+140)x0.55+160x0.45=509 So you get 9/500x100%= 1.8% more raw damage from maxing se compared to level 1 se Mm boost increase mastery from 60% to 90%, so your average range will change from 80% to 95%. And that's pretty huge, increasing raw damage by 15%. I think the better choice is to add se to maybe 6-10 to get it to a nice duration and max mm boost first.
Calculator says (160+200+110)×0.4+160x0.6= 284 while (160+200+140)x0.55+160x0.45= 347 That results in a 22% damage difference Am I misunderstanding something, or did you just accidentally remove the brackets when calculating? Your results are for a calculation where there are no brackets: 160+200+100x0.4+160x0.6=500 From looking at these results, both seems to give a very close damage boost. SE gives 22% avarage damage boost, but unstable. MM boost gives 15% damage boost, and make all your attacks stable, + it gives 10 weapon attack, which could probably cover for that 7% damage difference. So I guess it's really up to preference. in mobbing, predictable amount of attacks to kill is pretty useful. Also, I think MM boost will be slightly more favorable once i start using piercing shot
Oh, wait, its wrong to compare SE lvl 1 to 30, I want to see the difference between having SE and not having one at all as well: (160+200)×0.4+160x0.6= 240% (160+200+111)×0.41+160x0.59=287.51~=288 so just having a lvl 1 SE gives me +48% (not that i'll train with a lvl 1 se, recasting every 10 seconds is stupid lol), and maxing it to lvl 30 will give another +59% A more apt comparison would be 240 --> 347 Which is 44.5% avarage damage increase, damn
