I still do not understand why a perfect Stonetooth Sword is better than a perfect end-game 1H sword + a perfect ATT shield. Does the game/certain buff items favor the former even when you have tagged the pieces of equipment for at least 116 DEX points (dex-less build) while you could have tagged them for the same or more STR (or for some good ATT)?
The damage formula favors 2 handed weapons more as you gain more weapon attack. I don't know the specifics because I don't know the actual formula, but tests have been done to show this. Looks like this needs an update now, Final Attack is now an active skill making it worth maxing to use it with Power Slash for single target. Panic got buffed from 350% to 400% damage, not a huge change but might be worth maxing now for slight bossing/single target improvement during the 3rd job training stretch. Shout and Armor Crash got range buff but Shout's damage and attack speed is still unchanged/terrible. Dunno if either of these are exactly viable even post buff. Guardian got bumped up to 25% now so it's a pretty huge survivability boon, should be a bit more encouraged now tbh. Other core skill changes - Combo Attack no longer Dispellable, so that's cool.
Shout and Armor Crash are super useful skills. Shout for farming multiple platforms for collecting ETC drops or during some events. Armor Crash for cancelling HT's defense up buff 1H Sword can be super expensive to perfect both sword and shield and its viability is strongly dependent on how meta Buccaneers/SI mules are in relation to the meta bosses. For most general purposes imo ST sword gives the best all around DPS with or without SI. Also, the stronger attack pots you are using such as Onyx Apple, the less the extra attack from 1h+shield is advantageous compared to the higher STR multiplier advantage from 2H swords. So, the best case for 1H+shield is a world where you are using heartstoppers or gizers and you never have SI. This might be good in super late game if you are lvl 200 and farming mesos from bosses on Hero as efficiently and low effort as possible. Also, one small thing to note is it's possible the attack range of Brandish for 1H sword has a smaller vertical attack area for bosses such as HT or Zak, but I haven't tested it myself.
You also need armor crash to break Def up from ht and other bosses. A bit of MP recovery is good for sed as well (to get enough mp to cast heros will after 1/1) The rest like coma, panic and shout are situational and shield mastery is useless
After Combo Attack get Panic (if you want to kill field bosses such as Headless Horseman while leveling) or Coma (if you want to continue grinding mobs while leveling). After getting both those skills max Armor crash. The rest of your skill points can be spent however way you like but i recommend the last points to be put into Shout maxing it or MP Recovery maxing it. If you're leeching and not actually playing the character until Hero then the only two skills you need to make sure you get at 3rd job is combo attack and armor crash.
Hmm does it mean final attack is worth putting points into now? I have searched here and there but couldnt find any helpful guide T_T
its correctly use this guide nowadays? i have a question for heroes. guide says on 2nd job says 53 point in annything. what i should up? im thinking power guard, rage for low lvls should be good and what about final attck? its unnecesary like old times? ik when i get 4th job brandish final attack its like dissapered
Max rage, I think its decent when farming random mobs for quests. Everything else is literally useless. Even at low lvl FA is DPS loss vses uses another skill, the spin takes too long. I added axe mastery and booster for fun.
oh thanks a lot @Cynn u do like a hybrid dk adding axe mastery i think i gona take that path too. Thank u so much!
Power guard is pretty strong, it reduces touch damage by 40% which helps you save pots and increase your survivability at hard hitting bosses. After that you can max rage and spend the rest on axe mastery/booster. Axes got a 75% mastery buff and are actually viable now
Hello, just wanna ask, say if we have a redner with 125 watk and a ST with 125 watk, will there be a significant difference in terms of damage given that axes are buffed as of now?
Given an axe and a sword with the same attack the average damage output (not dps, damage numbers only) would be the same for both, however between Redner and Stonetooth the latter would be better because it has a better attacking speed.
