I don't believe multi-clienting itself is an issue. I personally own all the mules and mostly use them just to fill in for missing roles when people are busy / not online, not to purposely replace people so I can get a bigger split or whatever since I boss to have fun and socialize with people. Greedy people will always exist, I mean when I joined playing dedicated bishop meant you either got exp OR splits, not both because "well you don't have to stopper or apple and you can heal yourself so you don't spend anything to run" though the crazy instability of new-source later demanded a change to paying bishops in full because muling bishop was not realistic for most people. I think a better approach would be to have additional boss mechanic challenges or changes to existing party buffs so that you can't just comfortably park a mule in a boss and just conveniently use whatever buff you brought them for. Surely those people who multi-client / solo bosses for the occasional "challenge" wouldn't have much of an issue with having to micro more. Excuse my rudeness, but I just don't like the attitude of some people who act like they're a gift to the world for knowing how to alt-tab. If there's an issue with multi-client mage farmers taking multiple maps, then I think the issue is with how mapowner is implemented. I think it should be one map per person, not per account. I'm not sure anything can be done about the efficiency of parking mages and alt-tabbing ultimates without fundamentally changing the game. There are some issues with the economy when it comes to end-game bossing like how HT's book/HTP centric profits rely on a literal pyramid scheme that involves selling books to new players who then need new players to buy their books when they reach HT...and so on. It hasn't been holding up as of late. Only gen 30 and MW20 are the only real profitable books due to their immense demand.
exactly, people are smart and will find ways of min maxing even with multiclient lol I know countless ppl that are bored bc they arent able to do things w o CRAZY muling
I feel multi client shold be limited to 2 because it is againt the rule in some way. For example, many people use 4 accounts for the duku leech. They are just playing like zombie w/o human reaction, they keep clicking "tab" and their AOE skill such as, genesis or blizaard simultaneously. Hence, I feel multi client should definitely be limited in a certain number. I personally think 2 is the best number. @Tim @Gert @Evan @Muff @Becca Please consider my suggestion ^^
i voted Multiclient isn't the issue (elaborate in replies) cuz I think it was the closest option I had for my opinion. multiclienting = good. don't make it worse or harder to do at all. Expedition bossing: terrible. I did a long drawn-out explanation on the https://royals.ms/forum/threads/feedback-thread-mules-and-multi-client.187072/#post-1093094 thread. but ill keep it simple here. boss runs aren't balanced due to mules, and I feel like the game in boss runs should be balanced. Like EVERY OTHER MMORPG, a boss run, raid, expedition, etc etc, is best balanced and not a single meta ruling them all. mule meta is in royals, it's not healthy IMO.
I personally agree with Becca here Most of the comments I've read on here disagreeing is with the complaint that they will lose money because they cannot solo :insert boss/map here: with so many clients. In my personal opinion, this is a private server. We play private servers for their features and multiclient in general is a very nice feature of this server that cannot be done on the official servers. I think the fact someone might have to lose out on some of their split, in order to incorporate more people to join a run, isn't the worst thing on the planet. A lot of arguments I see on the forums, in general, are for nostalgia. I feel as if having a group of people fighting a boss actively, together, is one of the MOST nostalgic feelings on the planet. I would honestly vote for a 2 client limit, however, I feel like the overall consensus would prefer a 3 client limit, and I can't see why 4 is necessary. I've done it myself in order to solo my characters thru KPQ, however, it was NOT as fun as having people with me.
Multiclient shouldnt be an issue, but don’t expect people to multiclient I suppose. “Pm job/lvl/mules”?
I support the idea of limiting multi client to 2 per player. It will still allow 5 man CWK expeditions, 3 man HT and on the other hand disable ridiculous exploits like 4x mage farming or single player occupying half of the voodoo maps. Lots of people mentioned word "adaptation" here. What's easier to adapt to? Reducing your mule adventures from 5 clients to 2 OR being forced to create multiple mules + mage before you can actually start playing the game "properly" as a new player. I've seen countless examples of new players getting demotivated and ultimately quitting the game because they found out that to play the game in current meta they have to create a bishop, then HP wash their character just to find out they HAVE to create another mules to be accepted in boss runs? Ain't nobody quitting if they get limited to 2 clients. Anything above that is just pure greed and exploitation of servers flaws.
Go add your opinions to the pinned thread guys : https://royals.ms/forum/threads/feedback-thread-mules-and-multi-client.187072/ I personally disagree with you because I have a lot more fun soloing kpq (doing the puzzles alone) than I do with other people. These metrics that many keep throwing around such as "nostalgia" and "fun" are all subjective and it's tiring to see people state them like they're universal facts that apply to everyone. People will just MC with two machines or use VMware, this doesn't solve the issue and just raises more problems that admins would need to police.
I don't think making someone play differently than what they are used to is a good idea, let everyone play the game the way they want to play and make their own decisions. instead of forcing people into party play / open less clients/ not use mules try to encourage them to do so. for example, a harder bossing mode that lets you use only one char at a time (similar to how events work) and yields better rewards , some new end game grinding places with no safe spots and perhaps no auto pot with boosted party EXP (did someone say LHC). I am sure that there's a lot of other ideas that will give people an incentive to not use mules in some scenarios. Don't take from people the ability to play the game how they want to play it, even if it's soloing ht on 6 clients, afking at the fm on 20 chars or farming on 4 mages using their feet.
Limiting multiple clients is not a solution If you do that, you can expect further server decline just by leaving existing players. If the aging of the server is a problem, I think it is more important to call new players by adding original content and difficult bosses.
