So after the most recent update nerfed the drop rate of 5k nx cards for the Ellin Forest bosses, it caused many people to no longer feel like they're no longer worth running daily anymore. And while I do agree that the 5k nx drop rate was probably a bit too high when they were initially released and did need to be nerfed, now it feels less worth it to run since most of the time, you only get a fairly low outcome most of the time. That got me thinking, why do we only have 3 different values for nx cards, 1 of which is significantly higher than the other 2? Maybe we should add a 1k and a 2.5k nx cards too, to help fill in that value gap. Instead of having the Ellin bosses rarely drop a 5k nx card, have it slightly more commonly drop a 1k or 2.5k nx card, that way the nx earnings are more consistent. This also doesn't have to just apply to the Ellin bosses either, it can apply to a lot of other area bosses in the game. This is how I envision it working: Low level area bosses still only drop 100 or 250nx Higher level area bosses (Headless horesman, BF, etc.) can drop 100 and 250, with a chance to drop 1k, and a rarer chance to drop 2.5k Ellin bosses, Pap, and Shao drop always drop at least 1 250, with a chance to drop a 1k or a 2.5k Main bosses (Zak, Krex, HT, etc.) are the only ones that can drop a 5k card, but they can have a chance to drop any of the other values, except HT which only drops 5k cards Basically the idea is not to make NX easier to get necessarily, but making it more balanced and consistent and less "all or nothing" I guess. Lemme know what you guys think!
I will admit that with my experience of having done daily Chao/Ephenia runs for a while, I felt like I was often at the mercy of a "big money no whammies" kind of situation. Consider the general scaling of the NX cards for a moment: The ratio for the lowest card to the second is 2,5x, the ratio for the second card to the third is 20x. Apply these significantly different ratios to bosses which have a chance to give either the second or the third card, and you come to notice that if you were to do these bosses often as a means of earning NX, many of them are going to end up 'duds'. I could invest 6-8 minutes of my time solo'ing Ephenia (and all her obnoxious status effects) on my level 180 Hero, but my reward is either 500nx or ten times that much. If I were to do four boss runs in Ellin in a day and none of them happened to drop a 5k card (a not insignificant chance), I'd still only have 2/5ths of the value I could've gotten for the same amount of time and effort (or much more if you consider that a 5k can drop from each of the four runs). (And this even leaves out the fact that only getting 250nx from a single run is also a possibility) The times I've ended up with such a result frankly left me with the feeling that my daily runs were wasted that day. Now a mushroom videogame is a mushroom videogame with rng and it's not a pure meritocracy, obviously. But adding more possible NX values to be dropped and scale those drops relative to how strong a boss is/how late its encountered can alleviate a lot of disappointment or sense that time and effort was for nothing. There can still be variance in how much a boss can drop, but instead of having it be a toss up between getting "X" or "10X", the addition of a 1knx card could change that toss up to "X" and "5X" (or, if we keep the most common drop of two 250nx cards in Chao and Ephenia, "3,33~X") which are definite improvements. The "X" to "10X" ratio is just Chao and Ephenia too. Consider the Temple of Time bosses only dropping 350NX instead of 5k, you get a "X" to "14,2857~X" ratio! To sum it all up, I think levelling the possible earned value more towards the expected value of a boss will save many people a lot of heartache and frustration in the long term, and the addition of something like a 1k nx card can definitely help with that.
Ok but add/ change them to the setup tab, stop filling my etc please (also more items for setup reclassification, like ht badge, eof, krex hammer)
I like those ideas, but I think to truely balance this out and give actual feedback the staff should release the nx droprates for all bosses. This would also suit their Plan of improved transparency. Please give us these numbers to play with. The game is somewhat aging I see no point in holding these rates back. In modern Game development we often see rates/stats released may it be gun stats in call of duty or cubing/chaos rates in Korean maplestory. I was about to make this suggestion, but decided to first search if someone made this already, a 100 times yes to this feedback! I think the addition of 1k nx cards to help give fair rewards to all bosses would do wonders to some boss fights, especially ones that don't really "cost" anything to start (ellin forest, scar/targa, shaolin, krex), as it will allow people to split the boss rewards in a less awkward way, and also make the reward less RNG dependant to get the 1 in 10 runs nx card. Hope staff can join the conversation on this one!
We did actually work on a 1k NX card, it's in the game but just needs to be distributed/balanced into the bosses.
Is reclassifying some items such as all NX cards to go to the CS tab a consideration? And important items like krex hammer, EOF, black essence, etc, to go to the set-up tab as key items (such as marker of Heroism) a consideration to save etc space?
