What is the LEGOman challenge? The LEGOman challenge is a challenge run where your character is permanently locked in Ludibrium with the other LEGOmen, to promote a far more nostalgic old-school GMS experience. This Challenge is heavily inspired by the Caveman challenge, that is, it's a challenge where you start from a specific level with not much on you when you begin, you are locked to a certain area and can only interact with other players that play the challenge run. But because this challenge is done in Ludibrium, the experience is entirely different To make a LEGOman, you start a new account, and a new character, and level it to level 30 (to keep it fair, without any int gear), if you are not beginner, do your second job advancement. Note that you cannot keep stuff you made in that time, so no putting stuff in storage until you are done with becoming a LEGOman. [further LEGOman characters can be made on the same account] Before heading to Ludi, you should get the hairstyle and face you plan on using on your character, as you won’t be able to leave Ludi again once the challenge starts. Once you reach Ludi, go ahead and throw/sell/give away any non-cosmetic item that is in your possession (other than your 2nd job medal). If you have an active questline, forfeit it. Go to the Weapon and Armor shop, you can buy there a weapon for lvl 30 that fit your job and class. (Lvl 25 claw for assassins and lvl 28 xbow for xbowmen). In case you have plans to do a build without your secondary stat (lukless/dexless etc etc), you are allowed to bring the lowest lvl weapon of your class from outside of ludi [Unscrolled!] instead of buying a weapon in the shop. After getting the weapon, go to the potion shop, and buy 300 White pills and 150 Mana elixir pills, and 3 stacks of ammunition if you are playing a job that needs it. After you finish your shopping, give away or discard any meso you have left over on your character. Take a screenshot of your lvl 30 character with your inventory expanded on equip, use and item tabs. And make a post on this thread so me or one of the Jrs could invite you in. Once you do that, you'll become a fully-fledged LEGOman! The post under this one will have an example of how to sign up to the guild Alright, now that you made your LEGOman, here are the rules of the challenge: 1.NEVER LEAVE LUDIBRIUM By Ludibrium, I mean both the upper and lower ludibrium maps, and the entirety of the twin towers (Eos and Helios), so that means no Omega sector or Korean folk town. [basically, all the maps with LEGO in them] This is the first, and most important rule of the challenge run. But it has a few exceptions: Spoiler: Out of ludi exceptions -LEGOmen can enter the FM to buy stuff from albert and for event npcs (not for trade, trading will be explained further in Rule 2). -LEGOmen can enter the lounge. -LEGOmen that die in either the lower half of either Eos or Helios, and end up spawning in either omega sector or Korean folk town respectively, are not disqualified, but, if you find yourself in such a situation, do not kill any mob or interact with any NPC in those maps, and head straight back into the tower. -For the sake of 3rd job advancement (will be explained further in the job advancement segment), you will be allowed to leave Ludi, but you are not allowed to kill any mob that is not related to the 3rd job advancement questline, pick up items you find on the ground on the way, or interact with any NPCs that are not related to the advancement. -Certain event maps will be accessible to LEGOmen (See more in the event rules) 1.(a) Do not kill mobs that can't spawn in ludi [events mobs are an exception] At first glance, this rule might look a bit redundant when you cant leave ludi, but it was added so that items that can come from monster galore summon sacks couldn't be abused. So yea, don't kill non ludi mobs that come from sacks! 2. Trade and party would only be allowed inside the guild That means no trading with non-guildies, no buying in FM, no picking up items that a non LEGOman dropped, no party for grind with people outside of the guild either. The only two exceptions is the transfer of cosmetic items, and LPQ AND LMPQ. By cosmetics I mean either chairs or cosmetic NX items, as these don't really affect the challenge. (Pet items and equips are not cosmetics, you'll need to vote/farm nx to get those). as for the PQ, I'll further clarify in rule 5. 3. Getting leeched in LEGOmen is not allowed The definition of getting leeched would be: not contributing to the grinding in a party, and just getting effortless exp. You must grind/PQ actively with your party members. [Yes, even you priests ] 4. You can only play on one LEGOman at a time that means, no skill mules for parties (you can make item mules on the same account though if you so wish). 5. LEGOmen can participate in LEGOman LPQ or LMPQ, but CPQ is not allowed This rule is mostly meant to keep the gameplay challenging, CPQ would make lvling way too easy, and allow people to skip most of the ludi content and challenge via CPQ's crazy exp from lvl 31 up to 70. In LPQ, and LMPQ, legomen will be allowed to party up with randoms or friends from outside the challenge for the sake of clearing those two pqs, but nothing else! 6. You can do 3rd Job advancement, but not 4th. The way to do the 3rd job advancement will be explained below after the rules. The reason for why I want 4th job to not be part of the challenge, is both the fact that I want to make sure that the endgame remains challenging, and the fact that Skillbooks and skill quests would ruin the challenge's first rule too much, and also might make a greater gap between certain jobs due to SB accessibility. 7. LEGOmen can participate only in events and gm events that are accessible through FM, Lounge or Ludi itself Spoiler: Clarification: That means, that if the NPC of some event is only in, lets say, Henesys, then sadly LEGOmen won't be able to participate in said event (think christmas nose, or thanksgiving hat). Also, worth noting that if there is an event that warp you to a map that also have a map with mobs that are not necessary for participating in the event, then you are not allowed to kill them. For example, in valentine's day event, you can reach Amoria through the FM, but even though its where the event takes place, LEGOmen won't go to the right area to kill the mobs. Events that require entering a party in an event map for the sake of joining the event will be allowed, even if the party members are not part of the LEGOman challenge That may look like a lot of rules, but it basically boils down to this: TL; DR: Don’t leave Ludi, party and trade only with guild members, max job is 3rd job. The rest of the rules are there to make sure I don't leave any question unanswered [hopefully]. 3rd job advancement and mount acquisition: The rules of 3rd job advancement are pretty straight forward: For the sake of doing the job advancement you are allowed to leave ludi for a bit. Before leaving ludi, make sure you collected at least 10 dark crystal ores. If by chance you end up failing the quiz, you'll have to return to ludi to farm another set. Follow the job advancement guide and finish the job advancement without killing any mob that is not related to the quest on your way. Also, refrain from picking up items you find someone dropped on your way, and don't interact with NPCs that are not part of the job advancement (you are allowed to talk to the smith in el nath for crafting the dark crystal though) . Once you are done, you can either go get yourself a mount, and improve the speed of your pet, or return to ludi and skip it *do note, that this is the ONLY opportunity to get a mount, so i suggest making sure you have the meso to get a mount before you leave ludi [20mil to be exact]. The rules for getting a mount / finishing kenta's advice questline are the same as the 3rd job, only focus on the quest, no killing out of ludi mobs, no lollygagging. EDIT: because i know some might have forgotten to change their hairstyle before making their LEGOman, ill add this new rule: in the 3rd job adv, you can also go change your looks. Once you get these preperations in order, return to ludi immediately, the non-lego world is scary o-o'..... Third Job Hall of Fame: Warriors: @S0Y - Thickie (Dragon knight) @patnais77 - qas1xw77xcjs (White knight) @TaZMaNiA - Akshobhya (White knight) Mages: @Rinn - LegoRinn (F/P Mage) @Megan - LegoMeg (F/P Mage) Thiefs: @LichWiz - LEGOman (Hermit) @TaZMaNiA - BrickSolomon (Hermit) Archers: @Soren - MegaBloks (Ranger) Pirates: What makes LEGOman an interesting challenge? Limiting your gameplay to this single area comes with some interesting quirks, the first and most obvious change is your access to a lot of items in the game that come either from Gatcha or other mobs. That means: no 30% and 70% scrolls, no CS, no WS, no elemental wands, and no access to all the maple weapons in the game. Before making a LEGOman, I recommend checking out the availability chart that I made to see what class specific items and popular scrolls cannot be grinded through mobs: [CLICK HERE FOR THE AVAILABILITY LIST] *This excel sheet is currently a WIP, I will add more items and facts to it in the future! I might also make a guide thread and go indepth on all classes if there will be an interest in it The second change you'll notice is that you might find yourself grinding in maps you have never even considered [or even been on] in your normal playthroughs, because some mob in a weird place has the exact item you need for your character. Third change, no leeching or washing! In the meta of LEGOman, the mob that can deal the most amount of damage is the last boss, Papulatus. So even the squishiest of classes should be able to participate in a fight against him if they got strong enough. Why did you make this challenge run? After playing for a long time in Ironman, I've found myself theory-crafting challenges a lot of the times. I got inspired by the idea of caveman, and did some research on the things that drop in Ludi, that made me realize that it's a doable and fun challenge and it would be a waste if I won't make it a thing So… What are you waiting for?!
