There are some pretty good points brought up on this thread but I do want to point out that players should also not be obligated to get this medal - I think it should be more so directed/catered towards the players that are chasing for said medal(s). I believe it should not be much better than the current best in slot medal @ level 200 but again should be decently rewarding and nothing really too over-tuned to make it mandatory to the player base! It looks like there is a decent amount of support on this feedback thread. What are the staff members current thoughts or opinions on this idea?
Currently, there is a "medal revamp" on the long, long todolist which I'd very much like to get to. Everything I'm about to say is my own thoughts and not representative of the Staff's opinion as a whole. This is the first time I'm discussing it in general too. Reason for Implementing One of my long term desires is to indeed introduce a new best in slot medal based on these ideas. However, the primary reason is not for new stat gains. First and foremost, I want to introduce a completionist type medal, something that signifies a greatest achievement. However, this would have to be in slight contrast to something like a +20 Auf Helmet; it would be a medal that shows a player has explored and conquered every area of the game and all the content it has to offer. This type of achievement building and character investment is something that I value, and I know that many in our server feel the same way. A player wearing such a medal should have immense game knowledge and experience, a true adventurer! Requirements As for the requirements, my mind was along this line of thinking: The medal would have several requirements with large time investment. Of course, the two immediate things that come to everyone's minds are monster card set and quest completion count. These numbers would be chosen carefully so that a player would be forced to complete the torturous monster card sets and forced to do the torturous quest lines. The monster card number is fairly easy to determine (for example, all cards minus Bacal, inb4 Krex is the biggest gatekeeper ) , but quest count is a bit more difficult to settle on and I haven't looked into what a good number would be. Other requirements could possibly include Ergoth's Bane, Maple Explorer, Persevering Challenger, Saint Exorcist, and possibly new medals we plan to add. Monster cards and quests are not the only pieces of content after all, and while many of these seem like padding in comparison to card sets and quests, it seems fitting to require them. Stats As for stats, it would not be anything as over powered as merging the two medals outright. One idea is to take a "some attack and some stat" approach. However, I've also mulled over the idea of preserving the two-medal system we have right now. That is, for example, have two versions of the medal to choose from; an attack first stat second medal, or a stat first attack second medal. Think along the lines of choosing between a "Content King" and "Content Queen" medal, being able to switch between at your leisure. Personally, I haven't thought about anything I'm satisfied with yet. I'd love to see some more fleshed out ideas from the community. Your ideas are always being read by @Zancks and I (seriously, you don't even need to bump, we live here), as well as others on staff when we pass it along for discussion.
If a medal like this exist i would love to call it mapleholic cuz it shows how much time and force u put into the game, not just every slaying the same bosses
I am on board with either fusing the medals or giving a better medal for an even harder challenge @nut, but if there's to be an increased number of monster cards to collect, please ensure that it is doable without the expedition boss cards (or the cards of their summons). That will just turn boss cards into a paid service (especially for archmages/unwashed or unfunded characters). Enough difficult cards exist to give challengers the headaches they signed up for
It would be kind of difficult to not include the boss cards due to the fact that 406/477 card sets in the game are normal mobs. Now I'm assuming by expedition cards you mean more of party boss fights (like Zakum, HT, NT/Auf). I think whether they increased the amount of cards required or not, at the end of the day you may have to get some of the expedition cards, but you definitely won't need to get them all. If it was set to 450 for example, you would still probably be fine, though I haven't gone thru to confirm completely at the moment.
Yes you're right with your assumption: I wasn't sure what to call them, but basically the bosses that often have "services" for their exclusive equips or are gatekept such that randoms will have difficulty joining. I really dislike the idea of their cards becoming a service as to me it's a waste of time and money and there's no sense of accomplishment (paying money and sitting in a corner and praying for a drop?) compared to hunting for them on your own. I have Legendary Collector and there are still quite a few left for me that don't belong to the above (ToT bosses, Latanica, Chao and Ephenia, everything in Shaolin Temple, every non-boss after Odaiba in Neo Tokyo, PQ bosses except King Slime, MT-09, Rombot, Batoo, Male Boss etc.). So maybe something like 425.
No lié, the only reason I haven’t been quest savvy because the medal isn’t as good, legendary collector is just far better.
I would even take a merger with nothing but symbolic stat bonuses like more hp/mp and speed/jump/acc/avoid on top of the legendary collector, but a little bit of all stats instead would be nice. At the end of the day I just want to show off both of my medals at once
As a fellow dedicated card collector who goes beyond the 400 Monster Card Sets neccessary to obtain the Legendary Collector Medal, i'd propose the following aswell: Create a Medal that looks a bit more badass looking than the Legendary Collector Medal, either buffing the stats *slightly* or not at all by reaching: say 475 Sets ( there are currently 477 Monster Cards, from which are 476 available - no pink bean yet ) But add some darker color tones to it, such as the lvl 200 medals which have these deep purple color tones. They simply look better and not so toy-ish. To justify the slight buff of the, let's say: "Ultimate Collector" Medal or whatever it might be named after. Before i hit 400 monster card sets, i'd be able to farm 10-25 Sets / per 5 hours playtime, depending on RNG, Map Layout, Mob HP & Skills, such as stuns and whatever mostly. After i hit 400 Monster Card Sets, i get about 1 set / 5 hours playtime at best since there are mostly tedious mobs or Bosses left to farm cards from. If those two medals, Legendary Collector/Ultimate Collector and Quest Virtuoso Medals were fused, i'd propose to not just create a new medal based on those two, but rather on all Medals obtainable. If people say: How do Mages get those 475 cards then since usually and especially Archmages are not invited to Boss runs, Bonus Raid EXP as proposed by @GunzGaming would maybe be an option to even invite those brave enough to hunt past 400 Monster Card Sets to runs. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/feedback-request-skill-changes-and-balancing.205730/page-3 As it stands it seems like there are 34 Medals in total, and just having to collect two of them doesn't really fit the purpose of an almighty show-off medal where one can proof having beaten the game and explored all regions, monster and content there is available. The Explorer medals can be obtained in less than half an hour each usually. But sure, why not, to get the "Combination-Item (whether it be Medal, Ring or something else)" you could make the requirements be Maple Explorer + Quest Virtuoso + Legendary Collector, I suppose. You're right about there being 34 medals in total at the moment, but the ones being discussed in this thread are not two of those medals since you'll only obtain the Virtuoso/Legendary after obtaining Specialist/New/Renowned/Amazing/Master. So, it's actually 7. If you add Maple Explorer it'd be 18 out of 34.
Medal Challenge: Collect every other available medal to earn the "Done" medal. Stats on the medal: All stats -999, WA -999, Speed -140, Jump -123, HP - 30,000, MP -30,000 Effect: You are Done, and can now move on from this world. But really, the ultimate on-brand for Royals move would just be for the "everything" Medal to be identical to the Legendary Collector medal, plus one scroll slot... only usable by a chaos scroll. This would be a really cool completionist item to work towards. As someone who has neither, this would definitely motivate me to grind out some quests. I think @Johnny's proposed 1-3 stats would be more than enough and doesn't disrupt much balance. Aesthetic wise, I agree with @Novel - I've never been a fan of how the Legendary collector medal looks, which is largely why I never went for it. It does look a bit toy-ish and I've always liked quest virtuoso and the level 200 medals more. If this were to become a reality I hope it would keep that aesthetic over over collectors
@Johnny i like this idea, Legendary Virtuoso or Virtuous Legend, something like that, also a new quest medal on top of the already existing quest virtuoso, something like *Quest Master*, obtainable at 1,500 quests, the emblem of the medal would be a clock with brown colors, making the legendary virtuoso medal super hard to get to raise motivations, like, make it 474 monster card sets and 1,500 quests to attain xD
1500 is currently impossible as far as i know. I'm not even sure that there are 1200 quests that are nonmissable.
it can be done, i'll have the quest virtuoso by lv 65, if not by lv 70, so from lv 70 to 140 there should be 300 quests for sure
