Honestly there's no cure for people who: 1. Do not want to read the rules which have been clearly written for them. It's like there's no point taking the time writing them as they do not respect the server in the first place and instead take a massive dump on the rules which have been established after years of refining 2. Do things things thinking they won't get caught and will continue to push the boundaries until they do so; and then just feint ignorance and say 'I didn't know' However, I feel that there's a third group of people who; do not have a strong enough command of English to clearly understand what each rule means, and I think this is the most challenging aspect of keeping the rules. I'm all for a 'abuse-free' server but face it, displaying a 'who's banned' notice board in the fm simply does not sit well with me as it seems alienating and unwelcoming for a private server. It's like having a 'banned people from your house' board, how would you like it? Would you as a new guest feel welcomed to your home? Similarly I feel that if a new (innocent) player were to see this, it would not look well on the server either. And what about the memes? People who get banned get all sorts of ridicule, other parties WILL get affected as well. (I'm talking about guilds reputations at stake) I was a no for this suggestion back then, and an even stronger now right now. Spoiler: Don't read if easily triggered TLDR: you can't help dumb people I think what we can do on our end is to advise new players that we meet to take the time to properly read the rules, I make sure I do that on my end to rule out any accidents from potentially happening. Talk to the players in the fm, tell them nicely. A huge sign saying who's banned will not do the trick.
I see where the idea is coming from but I really doubt the influence of it. For instance, when I am thirsty I'd think of water or my crush despite being fed with so many options and alternatives. You would either plant something into their subconscious or you'll never would. I feel like players who are joining a old school private MapleStory server would have an inherent knowledge of what can or cannot be done in this game. It would be ignorant for one to just say that they do not know or not aware of what's prohibited or bannable. If one can't realize that voting more than once in 24 hours or that hacking is prohibited, I doubt a board of statistics would help. To wrap it off, I feel like RoyalTips and the warning message before you first log into your account is good enough, if that doesn't do the trick, I don't think this will.
My current issue with this idea is the implementation of Maple TV is using as an announcement piece of something so negative in the server. Sure, this will probably deter some potential rule-breakers and players who honestly didn't know the server's strict enforcement of rules but it runs the risk of being an eyesore to others and making new players feel unsafe seeing there are so "many crimes". I hope if the TV idea gets implemented, it can be also used to broadcast a more positive aspect of the server like events, tips etc, than just ban announcements.
Forum crimes are becoming a thing now, will these be included? I don't want to mention names but @Chrille ,@MoriForest , @Nessi ,@Mrkaren ,@yaqzan , @Don ,@trunghieu94 ,@Anhur and probably some more are super notorious forum criminals. Who will teach them right from wrong?
This is an eye-opener . If the board's main content is oriented around the positive things about the server, having a small side section for awareness campaign shouldn't disrupt the aesthetics to a significant degree. I can think of so many effective ways to make use of the board if it can display multiple features.
There is one quiz that does require effort to redo, 3rd job quiz. Paying one dark crystal creates the tension of not wanting to waste the item, and causes people to read the quiz properly. In the island, requiring something like 1 orange mushroom etc per attempt would be enough to deter multiple attempts
Why can't we just have a jail? Anyways i don't support this. Bring something more fun here, nobody cares about ban announcements. I would rather see my friends faces in Boards than ban announcements xD
Well you could chat at least to friends?? Or maple players could join jail as a tourist and laugh at players inside the jail HAHAHA ( maybe 10-15 minutes a day but you could probably add an NPC inside the jail who explains all the rules of MapleRoyals, and a banned jail player can only read the rules and wait until freedom. Or some other boring activity until the banned guy gets out.
I think the original GMS doesn't have these functions so its a little hard for a private server to add something which is not in the source.
Chairs, NPCs, I recall Matt saying all of the monster cards were updated via custom designs, they do pixel art for anniversary candles as well I believe.
Do note the server is based on GMS version 0.62/0.83, however, we get to enjoy contents from other versions of the game.
